HOW TO PROMOTE SOCIAL SERVICE WITHIN THE COMPANY

Publish date:

"Be the change you want to see" - Quote by Mahatma Gandhi will ring true for eternity. For people and businesses/brand, they are all mediums to effect change by social service & initiatives, no initiative being too big or small. Everyone had a myriad of opportunities to be catalysts of change. The leaders/managers may have a cause or more in mind, and some may not. Each company will tread its own path in their own way. By learning from the examples of others, brands/businesses out to create their own CSR projects etc can have smooth sailing, with minimal hiccups during the start.

Here are our suggestions for carving a journey of social service:

  • Reflect and listen. Listen to your inner voice and reflect on the causes closest to you / the brand / the culture. The importance of diversity, inclusion and "going green" for the brand. Does the office staff want to take up volunteering on a long term basis (even in their non - working hours.) Read or listen to the experiences and thoughts of your peers. Learning from others is always the best way to start defining your company's own CSR path.

  • After reflection and listening, it's time to swing into action. It could mean reaching out to NGOs who causes mirror your company's interests etc and supporting them with funds, time or material. You could work with NGOs who are doing stellar grassroot work in your community or match the financial donations made by company staff. Set your company's CSR targets and plan for the year ahead.

  • Lay the foundation for long term plans. The publishing of a mission statement is the step in the right direction. Adopt best practices for fostering diversity in office and keep reviewing the same. Create a team in the office to lead your social initiatives. Determine the ways the company can reduce its carbon footprints and work on them.

  • Enlarge your CSR work. Keep referring and updating the company CSR plans. Always be responsible, accountable and transparent with all stakeholders. Be on top of green measures as well as diversity KPIs to ensure that the company is as multi-hued as a rainbow. Let your company be a microcosm of the changes you want the world to reflect.

  • Keep reiterating your company's core values and missions by different ways so that all employees and other stakeholders stay the course. Always keep measuring the successes or failures of your CSR project. Get feedback and improve on them. Nothing is cast in stone. Be open to change and innovation.

The above suggestions are good ways to start, measure and expand your brand's CSR projects, big or small. It's time to do good for the country and the communities. Let us know which cause/mission is close to you and is the focus of your social service.
