Social media marketing is an economical and effective form of marketing for companies, big and small. But without a proper plan and information, it may not be useful. So read our tips and shore up your outreach in a more effective manner. Am sure it will pay rich dividends in the long run. Happy reading!

The ways to boost your social media marketing are:

  • Social media audit must be undertaken. A review of existing platforms, posts and strategies must be a regular occurrence. Thus, one can see what is working and what is not.  Next comes remedial action for course correction. This is also time to review the social media posts of competitors and how you can come up trumps with better posts.

  • Choose the best and most appropriate social media platforms. There are plenty of platforms in the market and does not need to be in all. Choose the ones which serve your purpose as each platform serves a purpose & generally has a ‘type’ of audience.  LinkedIn being the platform of networking for professionals is ideal for b2b marketing as well as hiring personnel. Instagram is to go – to – social media channel for all, including your brand. The next most popular channel is Facebook which is popular with the older demographics. It’s the main platform to connect with loved ones.  Snapchat is ideal for light hearted and informal content, again popular with the younger population, ideal for companies in the b2c domain.

  • Know your targeted audience. A business should know its prospects & customer base. Data on age, gender, location, and profession are the mandatory musts to begin with. This not only helps in developing products but also in designing social media campaigns. Your outreach being effective is affected by the targeted audience.

  • Create your company’s social media monthly content calendar.  This basically means crafting a well defined plan per month for the posts you intend to put out on a regular basis. Regular posts mean fresh content and higher organic reach thanks to algorithms. Regular flow of fresh content leads to greater chances of engagement and loyalty.  Content calendar should be chronological, with fixed time of posting in the day and lastly with social platform. Notable days (such as festivals or national days) in the year / month should be part of the monthly schedule.

  • Best time to post.  An often neglected aspect is factoring the ideal time to post content on platforms. Here are some suggestions on posting content on respective platforms:  Facebook – Afternoons. Instagram – Mid morning and mid afternoon, and LinkedIn – mid morning and early evening.

  • Design engaging and spectacular images and videos. In order to catch people’s attention and increase followers, it is important to have beautiful & aesthetically pleasing content, along with informative text with a dash of humour and wit. Relevant and eye catching visuals are a must especially among the younger gen of leads & clients. Informative videos are subtle forms of advertising but effective
