TIPS ON MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES PART 1

Publish date:

“ The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” –  Quote by Ralph Nader.

Retention of employees is one of the biggest headaches by corporates. The constant battle to keep talent within the organization can be won with a slew of positive steps taken by the management and the dynamic HR team. It’s in the company’s interest to retrain people rather than have a constant flow of employees which is bad for morale, financial bottom lines & reputation.  Below are some suggestions that are widely known, and have delivered results time & time again.

Here are some top tips on motivating your employees:

  • A company culture of rewards & recognitions needs to be created and nurtured. It is a basic human desire to be appreciated and recognised for their work / tasks etc. Hence no company worth it's salt can ignore this basic policy.  A robust policy of R&R driven by the management and supported by the Human Resources department has a terrific impact on the morale of the company as well as the retention of valuable employees. Not being appreciated / recognised does lead to fall in enthusiasm, motivation, and engagement in the company. We don’t want that, do we?

  • Celebrate milestones of an employee.  Be it birthday or wedding anniversaries, or workplace related milestones such as completion of X years in the companies, they call for some of the celebration within the organization, big or small. Celebrating milestones tells employees that they are appreciated in the office, keeping them happy & motivated to work towards their next milestone.

  • Encourage professional growth.  It’s important for all employees to be in a company which encourages / motivates them to grow professionally. By creating a culture of growth & development, the company is increasing talent retention and not giving employees a reason to leave for green pastures. Learning new skills and getting various certifications / diplomas is always a bonus for employees to stay with a business. Examples of professional growth include workshops, training courses, mentoring programs, and subscriptions to external platforms

  • Welcome kit on arrival. This is applicable to big companies with large budgets. Welcoming new members with onboarding “branded” kits is a good way to keep new joinees happy and inspired. It creates a special feeling as they open the packet and find a host of goodies.

  • Encourage socializing and team building outside of the workplace. There is a plethora of team building exercises and venues now in your destination. It can be hard to choose from such is the variety of activities. Even team socializing over meals, drinks, cinema, picnics, or voluntary work with NGOs is excellent in creating a feeling of bonding and camaraderie. Such events need to be regular to keep employees motivated, happy, and invested in a company. Codleo has regular parties on big occasions like Diwali, Holi, New Year, and so on. These are part of our strategy on human resource retention and developing interpersonal meaningful bonds.
