Publish date:

Are you seeking a challenging cum interesting career in IT and Salesforce, the world's number 1 CRM as an administrator? Or are you already one and working? well either way we have some tips for you to be better at your job as an administrator or the head of a team of many working with/for you. So here goes, let's deep dive into these tips for working more efficiently.

Suggestions for an administrator working solo :

  1. Formalize all processes. Treat your work with respect and professionalism even if you work alone or for a small company. Everything should be structured so that the company, the users of SF in it and you benefit.  Formalizing the processes helps in setting expectations and getting the data in the format needed by the administrator.

  2. Keep on studying and upgrading skills, learning about the new developments in the industry. Personal development is the way forward. Learning is a continuous mode and keeps one sharp at all times in the journey of life.

  3. Learn from the wider community. Get help, advice, solutions, etc. from the wider SF community through various platforms such as The Salesforce Trailblazer community and its different groups. Feel connected and empowered. The community is a great place to ask questions, get answers, and belong to a helpful community of professional soulmates.

Suggestions for an administrator working with a team :

  1. Work or hire team members with diverse skills as compared to what you have. Diversity brings different experiences and skills to the table from which the company and a solo administrator benefit in the long run. Better decisions are enabled as it is based on a wider knowledge base and unique perspectives.

  2. Ensure your team works actively and collaborates with other teams/departments, which results in multiple benefits to each team and the organization as a whole. Work together and help each other out.

  3. Be an active team player and motivate your team. Enable honest feedback and suggestions, whether in meetings, via surveys town halls, or on one. Encourage ideas, solutions, and thoughts to improve work, and let team members know that their opinions are valued. This way you retain talent, motivate them to do better, and find good solutions to issues & challenges.

Mohit, a Salesforce administrator in Delhi, says, "As a team leader, I am growing with my team members. I get new perspectives and learn from them just as they learn from me. It is a rewarding career and ideal for youngsters.".

Be a team player like Mohit if you work in a big organization as part of a team or heading one, and watch yourself grow into a fine human being and a good Salesforce administrator.
