A well defined SEO may seem to have financially prohibitive, to begin with, however, it is much more economical per acquisition than other options such as pay-per-click, print, TV, etc. Many good SEO strategies are at hand to use in the years to come.

The main steps to achieve a proper SEO strategy are: 

  • Undertake an analysis of your competitors in the market. A business must understand how others are faring on the internet search engine pages. These are some of the questions a company needs to consider: Where are they getting links? What types of websites? The duration of the other links? Your company needs to keep pace or even outdo them to craft your strategy. Get team members to read their online content to gauge how intensive is their research, vocabulary used, and uniqueness of their online content. 

  • Go for less popular search keywords. This may seem strange to suggest going for less popular search keywords but there is the logic in the madness.  The strategy is to get traffic and placement with these keywords. Once that has been achieved then you or a business can turn attention to more popular / competitive keywords that vie for the attention of all players. This is an effective and productive SEO strategy as the logic is to get traffic to the website to begin within a short period and then work your way up.

  • Structured data should be used. It is defined as the data that sticks to a pre-defined data model and is simple to analyse. Structured data reconciles to a tabular format with links between the different rows and columns. Some examples of structured data are Excel files or SQL databases. You will notice that a large part of the premier page of a search query on Google is a combination of snippets, carousels, and accordions (expandable elements) based on the use of structured data. It's imperative to describe every listing on your website such as products, videos, reviews, etc using JavaScript Object Notation, or JSON. This leads to better visibility on search engines as it elucidates the intention of the person searching the web for information etc. 

  • Make widgets or badges. Get the technical team to make widgets or badges with links to your website that clients, vendors or associates can put on their websites. This is a good link-building technique that leads to phenomenal growth in the appropriate scenarios. 

  • Blogs and blogs. Start blogging on a regular basis and uploading on your site. Well-researched, in-depth blogs with a minimum word count of 500 – 1000 words is the key to improving SEO. Original word content in blogs with adherence to blog protocol is the key to success for all companies seeking good rankings on search engines like Google and so on. 

Guest blogs on other websites. A good strategy is to write blogs for others on their websites and then linking them with your website. Write only for good websites or platforms. Ensure the content is original (not found on any other website), unique and rich in context. The blog posts have to be useful to the public at large.
