Decision making is an important part of anyone‘s life - big or small decisions, in personal or professional life. Taking good decisions comes with time and experience, and helping one become successful in life. To help you in decision making that is effective in addressing issues; here is our guide to help you along the way. 

• Identify the issue. The first step to making wise decisions knows what the problem / challenges ail the company or a process. Get to the crux of the matter. The more you know, the stronger would be the response.  It will also help you to select who can solve the issue as well the options for doing the same. 

• Collate the data & resources. Once the issue has been pinpointed, collate as much information as you can on it. It lets you study in detail if the issue is worth resolving. Since issues can arise due to outside factors, it’s important to note if the problem that needs addressing can be handled / controlled by you. This will pave the way for a higher success ratio. Supplies, skills, or people needed to solve the problem. 

• Deliberate on various ways to address the issue. Let there be meetings between the concerned people / teams to discuss various solutions etc. Ideating is an effective method of decision making. The more the ideas and options the better for solving the issue in the best way. 

• Analyse each solution against a set of criteria. Once you have a bunch of potential solutions then you need to gauge each solution against a well defined set of measurable / criteria. This enables you to choose the most effective solution for the business.  This bunch of criteria is subjective and can differ with respect to so many things. The solution needs to be feasible, efficient, and the right one. 

• Choose the most appropriate solution. After analysis of all possible solutions, it’s time to tick mark the one that is just the right one.  By the way, if later on, another solution seems right, no problem. Solutions are not cast in stone. You can always change your mind and implement other viable solutions. 

• Implement the solution with a roadmap for success. It ensures that the solution is not only effective but also efficient.
